MX GP - ITALY
Imperius Gajser goes 1-1 to win ‘home’ GP of Trentino 13th April 2025, Italy: A masterclass from Honda HRC’s Tim Gajser, saw the #243 win both races at the MXGP of Trentino, giving him the maximum 50 points and extending his lead in the 2025 MXGP championship to 39 points. Behind him, Ruben Fernandez narrowly missed the podium after his seven-four results for fifth overall, in what was a great day for the Honda CRF450R riders. Despite finishing second in yesterday’s qualification race, Gajser felt there was more to come and after working with the team on some changes with the bike, man and machine was in perfect synchronisation in today’s GP-scoring races. In race one, a good start saw him move into second place very early on, where he then proceeded to stalk the leader, waiting for the right time to pass. That moment came with five laps to go, as the Slovenian swept through in one of the rutted corners. Despite pressure, he held on for the win, but also knew that he’d have to repeat that performance in race two if he wanted to take his sixth overall at the picturesque Pietramurata circuit. Rising to that pressure, the CRF450R flew out of the gate, behind teammate Fernandez as the pair were one and two around the first few turns. Gajser then took over, pulling out a lead that the chasing pack couldn’t overcome, taking a comfortable victory and delighting the thousands of travelling Slovenians on Sunday.

More points for determined Marini in fierce Qatar GP
13th April 2025, Qatar: A fine evening at the Lusail International Circuit saw Honda HRC Castrol put together all their learnings on Sunday for the 22-lap Qatar GP. Able to improve their pace over the course of the weekend, Honda HRC’s factory team were aiming to show their potential after a subdued Sprint race. The Sunday in Qatar followed a similar pattern to the previous three for Luca Marini; his hard work and the developing Honda RC213V combining to reward the Italian and the Honda HRC Castrol team with another solid finish in the points. Confident with his pace in the longer race, the #10 made an aggressive start from 15th on the grid. In amongst it, Marini spent the majority of the race battling with the likes of Acosta, Ogura and Bezzecchi as a large group of riders fought for the top ten until the very end of the 22-lap race. The intense melee gave him yet more insight into the strengths of the Honda RC213V and some ideas on areas that could be improved further.
11th and less than 0.8s from another top ten finish when the flag came out, Marini would be promoted to tenth after another rider received a post-race penalty. This is Marini’s third consecutive top ten finish and sees him leave Qatar with 26 points, 10th overall in the World Championship standings.
Honda retain second in the Constructor Championship, an intense battle brewing with Aprilia, Yamaha and KTM. The World Championship now heads for Europe, the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez de la Frontera on April 25 – 27 the next destination in 2025.

13th April 2025, Netherlands: Honda HRC factory riders Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge once again demonstrated strong determination and racing spirit, bouncing back from the back of the grid to secure a solid seventh and twelfth place finish in Race 2, following a very challenging wet Superpole Race. The Honda HRC team began Sunday with a brief morning warm-up at the TT Circuit Assen. In the rain and on a full wet track, both Vierge and Lecuona completed a few laps to assess the conditions and their race settings but avoided any unnecessary risk.
The morning’s Superpole race ran on a wet track, though the rain had stopped, with Saturday’s qualifying results meaning that Lecuona and Vierge started this ten-lap sprint from fourteenth and eighteenth place respectively. Vierge’s race was unfortunately over before it began, a crash through the very first corner on the very first lap ruling him out of the race. Lecuona maintained his starting position early on but had a little difficulty establishing sufficient pace to be able to move up the field. Running fifteenth for a good part of this short sprint, the Spaniard moved up one position to cross the line fourteenth.
The track had fully dried in time for the second and final Superbike race in the early afternoon. Starting from sixteenth, Lecuona was soon up to twelfth and fighting hard within the chasing group. Team-mate Vierge unfortunately had to complete a long lap at the start of Race 2, a penalty he was given following an incident with another rider at the start of the Superpole race. Three rounds into the season and Vierge’s tally of 37 points puts him twelfth in the general standings, while team-mate Lecuona lies thirteenth with 34 points. The next championship round will see the WorldSBK field in action at Italy’s Cremona Circuit, on 2-4 May.
