Valiant Verstappen Pushes Norris Right To The Wire After Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Win

December 7, 2025:  – The closing race of the 2025 F1 Season in Abu Dhabi delivered drama to the very last lap as Oracle Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen stormed to a dominant victory at Yas Marina. Despite his brilliance, the Dutch superstar fell just two points short of capturing a historic fifth consecutive FIA Formula One World Championship. The crown instead went to McLaren’s Lando Norris, whose third-place finish sealed his first career title after a season-long duel of razor-thin margins.

Verstappen, starting from pole, executed a flawless 58-lap showcase, pushing Norris to his limits from lights out to the flag. “We never gave up and always believed we could turn things around,” Verstappen said after the race, reflecting on a comeback campaign that saw Oracle Red Bull Racing claw back more than 100 points in the second half of the season. “This season has been a massive rollercoaster… but I’m so proud of everyone. Today has been a lot of fun, especially winning the race in such a dominant way.”

Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri slipped past him early, but the Brit stayed composed, managing exactly what he needed to secure the championship. Verstappen himself offered warm praise for the newly crowned champion: “The first Championship win is the most emotional one… I hope he enjoys it a lot.”

Farewell Drive for Tsunoda; Hadjar and Lawson Close Out the Season

Yuki Tsunoda brought home P14 in his final outing for Oracle Red Bull Racing, giving everything in an aggressive, alternative-strategy run. “I really tried my absolute best… I can look back on this year knowing that I gave it everything until the end,” he said, congratulating both Norris and Verstappen on their achievements. “Max is the best driver on the grid… it’s very inspiring to see.”

His 2026 replacement, Isack Hadjar, finished P17 for Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, with Liam Lawson in P18. Despite a tough race, Hadjar reflected positively on his rookie campaign: “It’s been a great journey… I’m proud of everyone within VCARB.” Lawson echoed the optimism, calling 2025 a “big opportunity” he’s eager to seize.

Leadership Praise and a Season Defined by Grit

Oracle Red Bull Racing CEO & Team Principal Laurent Mekies celebrated both Verstappen’s victory and the team’s dramatic season turnaround. “We put up a really great fight right to the end… the dominant feeling is one of pride for this sensational turnaround. We showed true racing spirit—the Red Bull spirit—right up to the very last lap.”

For Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, Team Principal Alan Permane applauded the squad’s P6 in the Constructors’ Championship. “Sixth place… is amazing. It’s a huge achievement and a testament to the commitment, passion, and hard work within this team.”
