3rd-5th July Race Weekend Highlights: Herlings, Kirkwood Podiums as HRC Soars in MXGP and INDYCAR Upgrades Propel Aston Martin Forward

Kyle Kirkwood Returns to the Podium at Mid-Ohio

6th July 2026: Kyle Kirkwood finished third in the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, securing his 10th top-10 finish in 11 races this season and moving back into second place in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship, 56 points behind leader Alex Palou.

Palou finished fifth for the second race in a row, while Andretti Global teammate Will Power came home sixth. Graham Rahal placed 12th, with Felix Rosenqvist and Acura-backed Marcus Armstrong finishing 13th and 14th respectively after Armstrong gained 10 positions from his starting spot.

The 90-lap race ran caution-free with every driver reaching the finish, marking two years since the introduction of the IndyCar Hybrid System. Honda also retained its narrow lead in the manufacturers' championship, 892-868.

Aston Martin Completes Home Race Despite Challenging Silverstone Weekend

6th July 2026: The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team endured a difficult home British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with Fernando Alonso finishing 18th and Lance Stroll 19th, leaving the team without points after struggling for pace throughout the weekend.

Despite the result, Trackside General Manager and Chief Engineer Shintaro Orihara highlighted positives, with both cars completing the Sprint and Grand Prix for the first time since Miami following recent power unit reliability issues. He also noted improvements in driveability consistency and energy management, particularly after positive feedback from Alonso, describing it as a step in the right direction ahead of the introduction of Honda's new power unit specification at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Jeffrey Herlings Secures Runner-Up Finish at South African MXGP

July 5th 2026:- Honda HRC PETRONAS rider Jeffrey Herlings finished second overall at the MXGP of South Africa, taking second place in both motos at the newly revamped Terra Topia circuit in Johannesburg. Despite setting the fastest lap and pushing hard throughout the weekend, Herlings was unable to find a way past the race leader, ending his run of back-to-back Grand Prix victories.

Elsewhere, Tom Vialle showed encouraging pace with another holeshot but recovered to sixth overall after crashing out of race one. Ruben Fernandez battled to sixth overall with consistent seventh and eighth-place finishes, while Valerio Lata endured a challenging weekend in MX2, finishing around the top 10. With a weekend off ahead, the team now prepares for the final eight rounds of the 2026 World Motocross Championship.
