The Honda Saudi Motorsports Team, sponsored by Abdullah Hashim Company and Johnson Transparent Mask, participated in the first round of the Hill Climb Race, which was held in the picturesque region of Al Baha. The race was conducted on 14^th and 15^th July 2023 by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and witnessed the participation of 50 male and female racers from inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

The Honda Saudi Motorsports Team was led by the team captain Bandar Al-Silmy and racer Afnan Al-Marglani, sponsored by Abdullah Hashim Company and Johnson Transparent Mask. The team participated with the all-new high-performance 2023 Honda Civic Type Rs, in their stock configuration.

 

The race was extremely competitive, with the Honda Civic Type R pitted against competitors with high-horsepower engines. The race was 3 kilometers long, from the bottom of the hill up to the finish line situated at an altitude of 340 meters, with 29 turns between the start and finish line.

 

Captain Bandar Al-Silmy achieved a remarkable time of 2:47:968 with the Honda Civic Type R, a difference of less than a second separating him and his preceding competitor, despite the significant difference in horsepower in most of the competing cars in the class, some with more than 450 horsepower.

 

Captain Bandar proved the power and performance of the Honda Civic Type R on the track composed of curves, inclines, and slopes. He emphasized the importance of this participation in supporting the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and encouraging young men and women to practice motorsports safely and responsibly. He added that The Honda Saudi Motorsports Team aims to improve consistently and place remarkably in the upcoming rounds and races.

 

Racer Afnan Al-Marglani achieved a remarkable feat by winning third place in the ladies' category. She exhibited excellent skill in driving the Honda Civic Type R and announced her challenge for the upcoming rounds of the Hill Climb Race, with the second round expected to take place on August 11^th and 12^th in the city of Al Baha. She expressed her happiness in participating in this race and thanked her team and sponsors for their support.

 

The Honda Civic Type R is one of the world’s most dominant front-wheel-drive cars, with up to 315 HP generated by a 2-liter turbocharged engine. It has a six-speed manual transmission that provides a superior driving experience, with its “R+” integrated racing mode and systems that assist in maximizing the car's performance.
