Honda Motor Co. Africa and Middle East Office announced the start of sales of the upgraded 2020 Year Model CR-V today. The redesigned 2020 Year Model has a new exterior design, a new design for the 18” alloy wheels EX onwards, upgraded features and new exterior colors. The CR-V comes in four grades namely, DX and LX in 2 Wheel Drive (2WD) and EX and Touring in All Wheel Drive (AWD).
Exterior Styling:
The 2020 Honda CR-V’s more upscale and distinctive presence comes courtesy of a new blackout bumper and front grille and broad new openings for the fog lights. The added sophistication continues in back with dark-tinted taillight lenses, and aggressively styled headlights surrounded by wing shaped LED Day Time Running Lights (DRL) array on all grades. The CR-V’s new windswept front-end appearance also includes signature Honda LED headlights (touring only). EX and Touring grades get newly designed 18-inch Alloy wheels. Three new exterior colors come to the CR-V—Sonic Gray Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, and Passion Red Pearl.
Interior Styling and Convenience:
The 2020 Honda CR-Vs gets a redesigned center console that is easier to use, with more flexible storage options, while CR-V Touring grade now come standard with Wireless Cell phone charger.
The Wireless Phone Charger provides a hassle-free charging zone that’s easy to access and use. Phones that have built-in support for Qi charging are eligible to use this feature.
Other technologies include a color TFT driver information interface (DII) center meter display, The DX and LX grades have a 5-inch Colour Screen Audio and the EX and Touring grades have a 7-inch touch screen Display Audio interface with a physical volume knob as well as an available Navigation system. The 7-inch touch screen Display Audio is compatible with Apple CarPlayTM and AndroidAutoTM platforms, giving customers seamless integration of key smartphone features and functions, including smartphone powered GPS navigation and voice-controlled search capabilities.
Some of the key comfort and convenience features includes remote engine start LX onwards, Dual-Zone climate control in the EX grade and an i-Dual Zone climate control in the Touring grade, rear a/c ducts on all grades, an Electric Parking Brake (EPB), rear USB charging ports, front passenger seat with 4-way power adjustment and driver’s seat with 8-way power adjustment and power lumbar support in the Touring Grade.
One of the new convenience features in the 2020 CR-V is the addition of the Hands-Free Access Power Tailgate with adjustable height feature standard in the EX and the Touring grade. This feature allows you to open and close the tailgate with a simple kick action under the rear bumper when your hands are full. Also, in the EX and Touring Grade we have the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters by which you can change gears with the simple click.
Advanced Safety:
The 2020 CR-V utilizes Honda's next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. The CR-V targets the highest available collision safety ratings, including an NCAP 5-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Other Honda active-safety features such as Front Air Bags standard in all Grades, Side and Side Curtain Air Bags in the Touring Grade, Electronic Brake Booster (EBB), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control Systems (TCS), Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS), Electronic Brake Distributor (EBD), Agile Handling Assist, Tire Pressure Monitor System(TPMS), Brake Over Ride System and Hill Start Assist (HSA). Rear Parking Sensors are present in LX and EX grades and the Touring Grade now comes with Front and Rear Parking Sensors.
Powertrain and Chassis:
At the heart of the 2020 CR-V is a 2.4-litre DOHC, direct injected i-VTEC engine that is mated to a smooth shifting and sporty continuously variable transmission (CVT) with Honda G-Shift control logic. The 2.4-liter engine generates 184-horsepower @ 6400rpm and a torque of 244NM @ 3900rpm. The fuel consumption statistics of the CR-V are 15.5km/L for the DX and LX grades and 14.7km/L for the EX and Touring grades.
The all-new body and chassis design in the CR-V provides more agile and confident handling, greater drive refinement and superior overall versatility. Its front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link suspension utilize specially tuned low-friction dampers, with both FWD and AWD models including tubular front and solid rear stabilizer bars that promote quick turn-in and flatter cornering. Dual-pinion, variable ratio Electric Power Steering (EPS) also contributes to the CR-V's direct and satisfying steering feel.
