Marini Secures Ninth at San Marino GP
13th September 2026: Luca Marini secured a hard-fought ninth place at the San Marino Grand Prix, scoring seven points for Honda in front of a record crowd at Misano.
Marini spent much of the 27-lap race battling Fabio Di Giannantonio for position, defending strongly until tyre wear forced him to give way with eight laps remaining. The result extends his run of scoring on Sundays and leaves him just nine points behind tenth in the championship.
Joan Mir retired after five laps after struggling physically throughout the race and will undergo medical checks ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.
LCR Honda riders Johann Zarco and Diogo Moreira also failed to finish. Zarco crashed late in the race after missing his braking point, while rookie Moreira suffered a second-lap front-end crash. Both riders escaped injury.
MotoGP now heads to Spielberg for the Austrian Grand Prix, the 15th round of the championship.
